Additional Rules
Overtime and penalty rates in Australia depend on your modern award, enterprise agreement, or employment contract – as well as your occupation, classification, and when the hours are worked. Many modern awards pay 1.5x for the first 2–3 hours then 2x, but this is not a universal national entitlement. Award- and agreement-free employees have no automatic overtime multiplier.
